About Us

Mahendra Institute of Technology has established “Women Empowerment Cell” on 31/10/2017 in accordance with the sexual harassment of women at working place(prohibition, prevention and redress)Act 2013. The cell mandate including sensitizing the community towards gender related issues and this regards. The cell aim at creating awareness of rights and duties, also provides a forum for discussion and deliberation on a range of issue from empowerment to environment. The goal of WEC is to bring about the advancement, development and empowerment of women. WEC seeks to mould the young women force in the campus to achieve thriving milestones of success in the life. Aiming at intellectual and social upliftment of the students the cell stands for facilitating women’s empowerment through seminars, guest lectures, awareness programmes and other welfare activities.

OBJECTIVES
  • To create awareness about women's right and to empower the women students.
  • To promote a respectful ethnicity and gender equality for female students.
  • To conduct orientation programmes, seminars and workshops to impart knowledge of opportunities and tools available for women in the society.
  • To create a conducive counseling environment for female gender to share their problems.
  • To conduct awareness programmes on preventive measures of female health issues.
OUTCOME
  • Female students will be enabled to realize their potential and power in socio economic and political spheres of life.
  • Female Students will acquire empowerment in the holistic development of the society and the nation.
  •  Female students will acquire a respectful civilization and gender equality in the society

PROGRAM ORGANIZED

The cell periodically organizes various programs for the benefit of the women folk of the college.

  • We organized Seminar on “HEALTH AWARENESS” joined with Junior Chamber International and ISTE by Dr. DHAVASHREE MBBS.DGO.,DLS.,DRM,ART , Dr.VIJAYMURUGAN,MD.,DM to give awareness on obesity and cancer JESWARIVENKATARAMAN for empowering women of Mahendra Institute of technology on 8th March 2018.


  • We organized Guinness WORLD RECORD WOMEN HACKATHON 2018”event to encourage more women in Technology, a 36 hour hackathon for 2000+ women to build their digital portfolio Website.


  • The INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY 2018” was celebrated in the presence of Vijay TV Fame Mrs. ARANTHANG NISHA on 9th March 2018 at Mahathma Gandhi Auditorium, MIT.


  • The Harvest Festival of Tamilnadu, “PONGAL” was celebrated on 12.01.2019, organized by the women empowerment Cell of MIT which highlighted the unity and diversity among the Students and Faculty Community.


  • We organized a seminar on “cyber crime security awareness” joined with Junior Chamber by JC. N. RAGAVENDRAN CYBER SECURITY CONSULTANT, SALEM for giving awareness on cyber crime safety and security essentials of Internet and Digital communication among the female students and female faculty members community of Mahendra Institute of Technology 2.8.2018 by 10.am at seminor Hall-1.
